As a country the UK is getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Most of us need to either do something about our weight, or watch our weight so that we don’t start piling on the pounds. But when you work full time it can be hard to fit in time to visit the gym or get really fit.

On the other hand, it is all too easy to sit there and make excuses. So what you need to do is to sit down and think about ways in which you can effectively use your time to increase your exercise levels.

For a start how about scheduling in some time in your lunch-break, so that you can go for a jog, go for a walk or even go to a quick aerobics class. You don’t need to do an hours exercise, but anything is actually better than nothing and even if all you do is to go out for a walk, then you can speed up each day so that you are power walking by the end of the month.

A recruitment agency will probably tell you that those people who are most focussed at work and tend to gain the best promotions, are those who are physically fit. Exercise helps you to feel more confident and it can release endorphins in the brain, meaning that you become much happier and when you are happy and relaxed and that little bit more confident, then you can gain promotion just that little bit easier.

But it is up to you to rise to the challenge and see just how much exercise you can pack into a lunch-break. If you feel silly or don’t like exercising on your own, then why not see if a colleague will come with you and then you can both reap the benefits? You may even get a little fitness club going at your work.
